Islington Christmas Wedding - Kerry & Vanessa
Islington Town Hall winter wedding
There’s something quite magical about a London wedding in December—especially on those rare winter days when the sky is clear, the air is crisp, and the streets feel full of festive cheer. Kerry and Vanessa’s Christmas wedding at Islington Town Hall captured that atmosphere perfectly: relaxed, joyful, and full of warmth despite the cold.
The day started off with couple photos around some of the pretty streets that I love shooting at near the town hall. Their ceremony was booked for 4pm, so we had to make sure to catch some of the daylight beforehand. The weather was perfect, so we were super lucky, especially as Vanessa got stuck in traffic on the way and we were running a little behind. But we didn’t let time pressure get to us, and enjoyed our little tour around the streets making our way down to the town hall where their guests were ready to greet them.
Kerry and Vanessa had booked the Council Chamber for their ceremony. I normally love shooting in here because of the beautiful natural light coming from all directions, but even in the fading light, it looked beautiful. The ceremony was short, sweet with lots of emotion - and not wanting to sound too corny but it’s true - you could really feel the love in the room.
It was so lovely and Christmassy as we left the town hall. Lots of sparkly lights all around on the trees and along the street. Their confetti photos looked magical. As we had taken family photos before the ceremony, we headed straight across the street to the Hare and Hound pub for drinks and nibbles and to kick off the celebrations.
As evening approached, the celebrations moved on to The Depot for speeches and dinner. Stepping inside the venue felt like walking straight into Christmas. The space was beautifully decorated for the season—twinkling lights, greenery, candles everywhere. More of their friends arrived to join the party and I captured their speeches and left them when dinner arrived.
