What experience do you have in photographing children and families?

When I first started out in photography 11 years ago, I actually mostly photographed families and kids. I was a regular photographer for Baby Sensory for three years and also did plenty of family shoots during this time, so I learnt at lot. For me, family and newborn shoots are about going with the flow and having lots of patience to capture those really beautiful natural moments. We never rush. I have some idea of the photos I want to get in advance, but the best shots mostly happen when you and the kids are happy and relaxed. So especially with smaller children, I let them lead the way and see what happens, with some gentle encouragement and guidance thrown in. I love the spontaneity of these shoots, and I know we always get some gorgeous photos at the end that are unique to you.

How will the family / newborn shoot work?

My sessions are very informal. On the day, we’ll allow plenty of time for everyone to relax and settle in. I will give you direction but there’s no awkward posing or sitting still for very long. For family shoots, it’s a good idea to bring along a game or favourite toy, so everyone forgets about the camera for while and you can just do what you love doing together. We’ll work together to create some beautiful, fun, natural memories. With newborn shoots, we normally start off looking around your house and pick the best room(s) for your photos. I often start with photographing the baby on his/her own and then we can get different family members involved too. There’s plenty of time for breaks.

After the shoot I’ll be in touch with your photos within 3 weeks. You’ll receive an online gallery from where you can download your photos. There’s also a shop attached with a wide selection of beautiful print products, and you can order these directly via your gallery if you wish.

What if my child gets sick and I need to reschedule?

No problem at all. Your session fee is transferable to another date, and we can reschedule.

What should I wear?

Generally, the most important thing is to be comfortable, so I recommend wearing an outfit that you love, reflects your tastes and style, and that you can move around in easily. If your kids are quite young, your shoot will most likely be pretty active and energetic - we might sit on the grass or on tree stumps if we are outdoors, so I recommend going for something fairly casual that suits the setting. Similarly, if we are at your home, I would choose your favourite at-home outfit, rather than anything too formal, so your’e looking natural in your home environment. If you’re not sure, please feel free to ask.

Can I make my own prints?

Absolutely, the photos in your gallery will be available for high resolution download and you can print them as you wish. You are also welcome to to order from my online shop. I use a high quality professional lab, and can ensure that your photos are cropped correctly for different prints sizes and printed at the best quality.

How do I book?

Please drop me an email via the link below with your preferred date and location (I’m happy to help with location ideas if you are not sure) and a few details about the kind of shoot you are looking for. Once we have agreed on a date and location for your shoot, I’ll email you an invoice with your booking details. I take a £100 deposit to book in a date for you (this is transferable to another date if we need to postpone). The remaining payment is due on the day of the shoot.

Which areas of Greater London do you cover?

I’m based in Ruislip and travel within West London, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire is included in my packages. If you live further afield, please feel free to get in touch and we can look at travel costs.
