Jo & Philip's lockdown wedding at Core Clapton

A London lockdown wedding

Jo and Philip had originally planned their wedding at Core Clapton in Hackney with a 100+ guests. But then… 2020 happened. Determined to still just go for it, they downsized their guest list to fit the new regulations and exchanged their vows in front of their very closest family only.

I was massively impressed with how this large venue was transformed into a beautiful space for their intimate micro-wedding. I think we were all a bit worried that it might look a little sad and bleak, but quite the opposite. I thought the room looked stunning, and I couldn’t really imagine a 120 people in there.

Everyone was so happy, and there was still all the usual excitement, emotions and joy in the room. Their wedding really proved to me that you can still have a totally stunning, fun and special day even with all the restrictions.

The staff at Core Clapton also helped with life streaming the wedding ceremony, so all the guests who couldn’t be there in person where still able to watch from afar.

I think one of the things people find the hardest is to reduce their guests lists in the fear of offending any of their guests. Jo and Philip could have actually had a few more guests at their wedding, but they decided it was easier to just invite parents and siblings to keep things straight forward.

For Jo and Phil’s couple photos we jumped in for a quick Uber ride to the River Lea and went for a relaxed walk along the tow path. We discovered the filter beds, whatever they are!, which added a totally unique industrial backdrop for their photos. I was with them for 3 hours, and honestly had the best afternoon!
