Emma and Matt's winter wedding at Islington Town Hall

Islington Town Hall micro-wedding

London wedding photography

When I went to meet Emma and Matt on the morning of their wedding at Islington Town Hall on 19th December, I didn’t know it was going to be the last wedding I would photograph in 2020. I was due to capture another elopement in East London the following day, but such was the speed of lockdown changes back then! In any case, Emma and Matt’s beautiful micro-wedding was a wonderful finish to a tricky year, and we were all so grateful that it could go ahead amongst all the uncertainty.

I spent three beautiful relaxed hours with them, meeting them at their lovely home in Islington early in the morning for a few getting ready photos (how gorgeous is Emma’s dress!). Their friends gathered outside their house and we all walked over to the town hall together, under threatening skys, but luckily the rain held off.

Their ceremony was short and sweet, but no less special. I loved the atmosphere at Islington town hall - despite all the strict social distancing rules - the staff were super friendly and cheerful, making sure wedding ceremonies still feel very personal and special.

It was a bit of a blustery day, but we were super lucky with the sun even coming out a few times during our walk around the streets of Islington. Emma and Matt were keen to have their photos taken close to where they live and were married, and there are so many lovely spots around Islington, we had no trouble finding some beautiful urban locations for them.

Diana did an incredible job with our ‘mini wedding’ wedding photos. She was so accommodating, had great ideas and direction, and the photos that she produced were beautiful. We’re so pleased with them!
